OWWA College Scholarship Program for OFW Dependents

OWWA or Overseas Workers Welfare Administration is the government welfare institution that protects and promotes the interest of member-Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW’s). OWWA also develops responsive programs and services for the social protection of its members and one of those programs is the College scholarship program for OFW dependents. The said OWWA College Scholarship Program for OFW Dependents offers OFW beneficiaries the opportunity to acquire vocational, technical or specialized skills through the OFWDSP or OFW-Dependents Scholarship Program. The said college scholarship program offers financial assistance to qualified dependents of OFWs who are earning a monthly salary of not more than US$400.00 and who shall enroll in any four-year or five-year baccalaureate course or associate course leading to a baccalaureate degree or associate degree in a state college or university. The said scholarship for college is being implemented in every province including NCR or National Capital Region which is given automatic scholarships slots.


OWWA College Scholarship Program Coverage

  • Legal dependent of an OWWA active member whose monthly salary is US$400.00 or below. This shall be determined through the verified employment contract, overseas employment certificate (OEC) or OWWA OFW member verification sheet.
  • OFW couples who are both eligible for the program shall be entitled to only one (1) slot.
  • Each OWWA active member is entitled to only one (1) scholar-beneficiary.
  • Eligible OFWs who are previous availees of the EDSP and the CMWSP, are no longer qualified under the OFW-Dependent Scholarship Program; Children (natural or adopted) of married OFWs/Single OFWs.

OWWA College Scholarship Program Eligibility

  • Brother or Sister (half or full-blood) of Single/Childless Married OFW.
  • Children (natural or adopted) of single or married OFWs.

OWWA College Scholarship Program Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school graduate or about to graduate from high school, or already enrolled in college.
  • Single and not more than 21 years old at the time of application.
  • Must pass the qualifying or entrance examination conducted by an OWWA-partner state college/university or any.
  • The state college or university to enroll to is a CHED recognized and accredited educational institution located in the region/province.

OWWA College Scholarship Program Benefits
  • Financial assistance of Php 20,000/year or Php 10,000/semester that shall cover tuition fees and other academic-related expenses  (The financial aid shall be released on a semestral basis. There shall be no summer class/term disbursement of funds.)
  • A group health and accident insurance coverage of Php 100,000 /scholar
