TESDA Free Animation Training

Manila, Philippines — Out-of-school Filipino youths are given every opportunity to avail of free skills training to prepare them for possible employment.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) entered anew into a partnership with the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI) Thursday to give a chance for fans of computer graphics and others who wish to learn about animation.

Covered in the memorandum of agreement (MOA) that the two parties signed in Bicutan, Taguig City, are trainings for select scholars in Animation National Certificate (NC) II, Digital Animation NC III, and 3D Animation NC III under TESDA’s Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP).

TESDA will provide P8 million for scholarship vouchers covering pre-employment training and retooling of incoming workers in the animation industry.

Secretary Joel J. Villanueva, TESDA Director General, and ACPI president Benjamin Marasigan signed the MOA.

Villanueva cited the animation industry as having an exciting prospect, “lucrative, in-demand” with unlimited potential for expansion, both local and international markets.

“We urge our youth to take chance in learning the skill. By securing early training, they can position themselves at the leading edge of an emerging industry where sky is the limit,” he said.
