Returning overseas Filipino workers and others in need of skills assessment should grab a free service offer to 60,000 beneficiaries by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
TESDA came up with the offer for technical vocational (tech-voc) graduates, trainees, workers, and OFW returnees who need assessment of their skills for possible employment or promotion.
They should take advantage of the offer, the agency said, as it targets 60,000 beneficiaries nationwide starting in May up to October 2014.
When reached yesterday by the Manila Bulletin, Director Marta Hernandez, TESDA-Public Information Office, said assessments cost from a low of P100 and a high of P700, depending on the skills involved.
In a separate statement from the agency, TESDA from May to October this year will conduct the National TVET Competency Assessment and Certification all over the country for 60,000 beneficiaries. TVET means technical vocational education and training.
Secretary Joel Villanueva, TESDA director general, called on those concerned to take advantage of the offer.
“Industry practitioners, graduates, and even returning OFWs, should avail (themselves) of this free service because it will affirm their skills competency,” he said.
Villanueva cited TESDA’s National Certificates, saying being armed with the certification in their chosen field can lead to jobs for those looking for employment, or to a promotion in their present work.
